Elisa C; Butter

Elisa C; Butter

Hey.  I finished butter over the weekend and i really liked it. I don’t know how far you are but i thought it was really good toward the middle and the end. I almost cried in a few parts because it kinda makes you feel bad for him and want to help him.  I don’t really know who my favorite character was but if i had to pick it would probably be the professor because it seems like hes always there for butter and kinda watching over him when he doesn’t know it. I don’t know if you have read it but i was kinda surprised about how Anna reacted when butter told her who he was and it was kinda cool how he told her.

The next book i’m gonna be reading is drums girls and dangerous pie. I think i’m gonna like this book and i’m gonna read this one kinda fast as well. I’m gonna start today and ill probably post again by Saturday.

(I don’t know if you saw my last post and my finishing thoughts on wonder but i put it as a comment on my last one.)

  1. Hey Elisa! First off I did see your response to Wonder but I honestly thought it was from a different Elisa that might also be in your class haha. I even emailed your teacher about it because I was confused when I saw Elisa Woodbury had commented. This confused me because on all your other posts you have labeled it as Elisa C. so it was just a little mix up. I replied to it and you artifact post so you can go check those out if you want.
Now onto Butter, I just finished it this week. I felt the same way as you did in a few part of this book mostly revolving around his dad, The part where his dad admits he still goes to “their” mountain, which is something Butter still does but thought his dad had given up on. Also how Butter’s relationship with Anna is resolved. It was nice how they ended up friends. I liked how through their eventual friendship that, on the very last page of the book, we find out Butter’s real name, Marshall. Up until the last few pages, I realized we had never been told his real name. He was just referred to as Butter and it was accepted because he did nothing to change it. I stopped noticing pretty quickly that that obviously wasn’t his real name, and I think that was cleverly done on the author Erin Lange’s part. She also did a great job with the topic of suicide. Suicide is a hard theme to keep up throughout an entire book, but she did a good job at keeping me interested/distracted with his new relationships he was making at school. Overall I thought it was a good book. A little drawn out because right from the beginning I knew he wasn’t going to go through with it.
You said your next book was Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie and I am excited for you to read this one! I already read this one with Maeve and really liked it so I am excited to talk to you about it. I, myself, am going to be reading Chocolate War this week but will be expecting a post from you! Once you get a decent chunk read, shoot me a post about how you like it so far and we will get a discussion going. Have a good weekend Elisa and I will talk to you soon.
