Ian T, A Mango Shaped Space / Wonder

Ian T, A Mango Shaped Space / Wonder

Hi Jackie

I just finished the book A Mango Shaped Space yesterday and I really liked it! What did you think of the book? At the beginning I got a bit lost, but then it started to unwind for me. It always seemed like she liked her cat a lot but once he died it really showed how much she loved him. I can relate to that though because my dog died a few years ago and it was really, really sad. Her cat along with my dog just pretty much was a part of our family, so when they died it just gets really emotional.

I’m currently on page 47 of Wonder, and so far it kind of brings my thoughts back to A Mango Shaped Space because Mia and August are a lot alike. They both have differences with the people in their life. I noticed one major difference so far though and that is that Mia didn’t really get made fun of for her disease and August does. I think that August made a good choice of going to school because I think later in the book he will like it after all.

The Wonder book was really hard for me to put down last night when I was reading the only thing that stopped me was having to go to soccer practice. When the author said on the back of the book “I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.” I was really bummed out because that is what I really want to find out! The one hint that I got so far is that he does have ears but not exactly.

Have you started reading Wonder yet? What did you think about A Mango Shaped Space? I really loved the book and would recommend it to everyone that likes cats or has a pet. I hope to hear from you soon Jackie and learn what you think of these books!

  1. Hi Ian,
I’m glad you liked reading A Mango Shaped Space, like I mentioned before I did not get the chance to get this book because of expenses. I definitely hope to pick up this book within this year. I have heard many great things. Sorry about your dog dying. It is very sad when they pass because they truly become your best friend. I did buy the book Wonder and I let one of my classmates borrow it. As soon as she finishes it I plan on starting it. I am very excited to start reading this book. Have you started reading The Fault In Our Stars? Let me know what you think about this book?
