Elisa C; Wonder

Elisa C; Wonder

So i’m actually really do like this book a lot. I’ve been trying to find more time to read and I’ve been staying up late after practice and homework to read a little each night. I’m just about done with the book. Im only have about 20 pages left and i’m planning on finishing it tonight.

At first i was a little confused about how the book went but now its actually pretty cool how they all have a chance to explain there part and how they feel about august. I was pretty sad in the first part were august explained how people would look at him and he had to learn to ignore people and not let it make him sad. I also really liked how the chapters weren’t full long chapter and they were perfect cause i usually only have a few minutes to read or i just wanna read a little so its nice to have short separated chapters. I also really liked vias part but i also thought it was sad how she felt like she needed to protect her brother and stop them from hurting him. How did you feel about the book?

Im gonna be reading butter next and im planning to read this one alot faster and i had started it a few weeks ago so im about 40 pages in and already really liked it and im excited to get to finish it.  i think im really gonna like this one!

let me know what you think about the books

  1. Hey Elisa! Did you see my response to you last post you wrote? It is right underneath if you have not checked it out yet! Anyways, I am glad your view on the book is turning around. I have really been enjoying it so far as well. School has been crazy busy lately with midterms so I have not read as much as I would have like to. Currently I am in Olivia’s boyfriend, Justin, part of the book. To be honest I do not really like his section so far, but I am only on his second or third chapter so it could get better.
Having each different character tell stories about their relationship with August has made this book a lot more interesting. If the whole book were from just one view I think would have made the book less captivating. Having to just hear about August’s hardships from just his view would have made it sadder and make me not want to keep reading. The multiple views lets us see how not just August is feeling but also how his supporting cast of family and friends is feeling too. This is important because August is not the only one who must deal with the way he looks. His appearance has had a great impact on all of their lives.
My last response I said to your post I mentioned that Jack Will was my favorite character so far besides August. At that point “the incident” on Halloween had not happened yet so he was still on my good side. Now I feel a little more neutral about him but he won his way back into my heart after his part in the book. The chapter when he punches Julian in the face was awesome. He totally deserved it and I am glad it was Jack who did it. This reignited August and his friendship making them best buds again after a little apology. Who is your favorite character other than August?

So I plan to finish Wonder in the next couple of days so that I can get started on Butter because you and Maeve are both reading that one next. I was thinking that once you finish off those last 20 pages of Wonder that you could do another small little post on your final view of the book. Then I will respond to that with my final views and we can move onto the next book. Let me know what you think about that! I’m excited to finish this book and hear what you have to say :)))

    1. So i’m done with wonder and i’m actually pretty happy that i read this book. I think my favorite character was his sister via. Her part kind of made me sad and it was the first part that made me really enjoy the book. I don’t know if i liked hers because it was a girls part and i sorta felt like i related to it more or because it was well written. overall i did like the book and i may try to find more books by this author. I’m now starting to read Butter and i really like it a lot. I’m about 100 pages in already and I dont wanna tell you before you read it but i like it a lot because i’ve already had parts of the book that have made me wanna stop and cry but ive also had alot of parts that make me laugh while im reading it. im gonna try and read this book alot fastter then i read wonder so i can get it done and start with drums girls and dangerous pie so ill probably finish this by the end of the week then ill do another post. When you get alittle farther in let me know what you think about it!

  2. Hey Elisa sorry this took so long for me to reply to. I was super confused when I saw Elisa Woodbury had commented and not Elisa C. I even went to my teacher and was like “ what the heck it going on?” haha. That is my mistake so I apologize.
But I agree with your post. Via’s part of the book was good. Extremely well written, it captured her emotions of how difficult it was for her growing up with Auggie as her brother. The way she kept the play from her family so that Auggie would not attend was very sad, especially when he found out. He sure is a smart kid. There couldn’t have been a better resolve to that than the way Via had to step in for Miranda last minute and stole the show. Auggie got to be there and was soo proud of his big sister.
I have to be honest with you that I did not read Julian’s chapter. I was so satisfied with the way the book ended with August’s chapter so I called it quits. Let me know if you think I should go back and read his final chapter.
