I am in LOVE with this book so far! I can’t stop reading it! There are so many tools in this book that I plan on using in my future classroom, for example the Independent reading time observation. This is a great way to check on students reading habits, and encourage them to become stronger readers! A challenging part of teaching reading is knowing what books to recommend. It is my hope that I will be a kindergarten teacher, and I know a lot of books to read to this grade of kids, and books to recommend to early readers, however, I’ve realized I do not know many books for older grades. This is something that worries me, as a future teacher. I hope to make great friends with a school librarian, and until I start actually teaching, I will read a variety of books, to expand my knowledge of books to recommend to children. I am most excited to find a book that every child will love. I never want any of my future students to feel that they aren’t good at reading. I want them all to have that spark, that will blossom into a life long love for reading. That is my goal as a teacher. If a child can find one book that they really love, I hope that will interest them in finding more books.
