This is how I envision Williams saw in his poem:
In this poem, Williams sees a backyard where the chicken coops rests. A new rain has laced the yard in liquid jewels. Tiny worms, brought to surface by the rain, have pushed their way through the soft dirt and now crawl around on its surface. They crawl in the shadow of a red wheel barrow, which the day before had been used for carrying a load of green debris. It now sits, shiny from the rain. The chickens, emerge from the coop, and head toward the wheel barrow searching for lunch.
Think he was in awe of what he saw. A new rain has a refreshing element, and enables people to see beauty in common objects. The rain is a new perspective. I believe Williams had seen the red wheel barrow ad saw it as beautiful, saw it as made new. It gave him a new perspective on it. This could be backed up by the statement “so much depends.” So much depends could refer to Williams gaining a new perspective. Without that wheel barrow, he would not have that new perspective.

So much depends

A blazing fire
Embraced by
Boulders
Beneath the open

Here are two pictures from my artifact. My artifact was a project to see what people thought a Griever looked like. Forst, the read a passage from the book, then took used the materials provided, (grapes, plates, chocolate sauce, various tooth picks, and chocolate chips) to create their impression of a griever. It was fun to see all the variety of grievers that were created.

When I was in 1st-3rd grade I only would read books if I really liked the pictures. Still to this day I will only read an illustrated book if the pictures catch my eye. As for novels I was drawn to adventure, and different societies of people. For a period of time I would only read books written in first person. I love the feeling of being in the at characters head, and going through their experiences. Some of my favorite series have been the Uglies, Twilight, and my new favorite, Maze Runner. I loved the book the Secret Life of Bees and To Kill a Mockingbird in high school. I also always have loved books about romance, I read a lot of Sarah Dessen books in high school. One of my favorite books from 4th grade was By the Great Horn Spoon. I loved this historical aspect of it, that it could have been someones life.

Today I started the book The Geography of you and me. I am not that far into it yet, but I plan to be a decent way through it by this weekend. I am a slow reader too, so I have to push myself to read. One tool to help me read is to block out a period of time every week that I dedicate to reading. On Mondays and Wednesdays I read for a solid 3 hours between my classes. This has really helped me keep to a schedule. Another tip that Ive used before is every 25 pages (or you can adjust it to what works for you,) you give yourself a reading break. Sometimes I will go eat or walk around or draw during my little break.

I can’t wait to see what you think of the ending of the book!

I am in LOVE with this book so far! I can’t stop reading it! There are so many tools in this book that I plan on using in my future classroom, for example the Independent reading time observation. This is a great way to check on students reading habits, and encourage them to become stronger readers! A challenging part of teaching reading is knowing what books to recommend. It is my hope that I will be a kindergarten teacher, and I know a lot of books to read to this grade of kids, and books to recommend to early readers, however, I’ve realized I do not know many books for older grades. This is something that worries me, as a future teacher. I hope to make great friends with a school librarian, and until I start actually teaching, I will read a variety of books, to expand my knowledge of books to recommend to children. I am most excited to find a book that every child will love. I never want any of my future students to feel that they aren’t good at reading. I want them all to have that spark, that will blossom into a life long love for reading. That is my goal as a teacher. If a child can find one book that they really love, I hope that will interest them in finding more books.
