Kissing the Witch

Kissing the Witch

My favorite tale was The Tale of the Voice because it’s the tale of The Little Mermaid, which is one of my favorite. I also like how differently this story is told compared to Disneys version. In this version Ariel is a human being, not a mermaid. Although I do like the idea of her being a mermaid instead of just a regular old human being. This story does sort of capture the situation of women today by showing what a women would do to get her man. Ariel didn’t even talk to her Prince Charming and she already decided to give up her voice for him and move away from her family. Women now a days can be pretty desperate as well when trying to get a guys attention.

The author titles the book Kissing the Witch because it is the last story in her book, her final words. All of the other stories told were leading up to get to this final story.  There is probably a deeper meaning as to why the whole book is named after this last story but I cannot figure it out. Hopefully we can talk about it in our class discussion!
