I’m Julie Martindale I’m 23 years old. This is my first semester at Chico State but is the fourth college I’ve gone to so far. I’m from Stockton Ca, but i am originally from Montclair, Ca and have live in two places in Montana as well as two places in Wyoming. I’m a Liberal Arts major in hopes to become an elementary school teacher; K-3 is what i wish to teach. I’m the youngest of three older brothers, and am the first one in my family to reach this far going to college. My hobbies are basically horses.

1.  a good reader who reads a text for the first time just reads through it. then they go back and try to figure out the words they dont know. after that they try to comprehend what the reading was all about, and in some cases might even take a few notes to remember what they have read.

2. in elementary i hated to read so about 3rd grade the teacher would have everyone sit around her in a half circle and do choral poetry and rhymes, which got the class to join in and like reading since it didnt feel like we where reading but instead felt like a game.

3. out of school i read romance novels and books about horses. i usually cant stand to read the books that are assigned. those books never interest me primarily because they are a forces reading. i usually choose what to read based on the title and the cover.

4. claims of other teachers are stating students are not good readers but it doesnt mean they dont read other things or that they dont like to read. he claims a good readers doesnt always remember what they read and usually take notes as well as have more questions then anything in the end.  the take away for me would be teachers need to learn that kids will read what they like so why not start assigning then a free platform where they get to pick what they want to read but have it follow some sort of pathway .
