Lauryn R – Butter

Lauryn R – Butter

I finished Butter a couple days ago; I really enjoyed the characters in the story and how Butter is going through a lot of big choices in the book.

I think that Anna is an important character because she helps Butter realize what he has done to her and how much killing himself would effect the people around him. I also think that the popular boy group was also a very important group because Butter thought they were just interested in him because he was getting more popular every day but they were actually real friends being supportive of his decision.

I really enjoyed this book and it really made me think about how one simple decision can change your life.

Lauryn R – Divergent

* may include some details that might give small parts of the story away… Sorry

I finished Divergent in a really short amount of time compared to books I normally read. I watched the movie before I read the book (bad idea), so I had an idea of what was going to happen but the book, as always was better than the movie. I never thought I would be interested in that kind of genera ,but I am very intrigued by the dystopia world Triss has to go through. I also noticed that the fractions were like labels and if you go to a certain fraction you were put into a certain label which reminded me of Counting by 7’s

I really enjoyed the slow relationship of Triss and Four. I feel that a lot of books make relationships start so fast when this relationship seems natural and true. I think that the truth test Four and Triss do together is a really important part of the story because that is when they both bond and I believe this is when Four gets the idea Triss is Divergent ( I might be wrong, I don’t have the book with me). I feel like a under rated/ talked about character is Uriah. I think that his is one of the only daultless born characters that really tries to make Triss feel welcome and helps her not feel like regretting her decision as much and also helps her have fun.

I wonder what Triss’s life would have been like if she chose a different fraction and what her world would have been like. I enjoyed how she found out so many of her close friends and even family were divergent. I definitely am going to read all the books in the series!

Lauryn R – Counting By 7’s

Lauryn R – Counting By 7’s

I just finished Counting by 7’s. I have mixed feelings about my opinion on it though. I thought it was a good story and I like how the plants and the idea of 7’s come out a lot throughout the book. Counting By 7’s reminded me a little about If I Stay. For example I thought Willow Chance and Mia Hall ( main character in If I Stay)  both had a big sudden change in there life and they are both trying to cope with their loss and find their way through grief and life.

Dell was a really interesting character in the book and i feel like he added a lot to the story. His categories and labels he gave to people were thought provoking and made me notice how we use labels all the time. I also feel Jairo was an important character because he made Willow feel important and special. The cat Cheddar was also a character I felt was a important character because it really makes dell feel he needs to do something in his life.

The ending was very happy and didn’t make me feel like there should be an other book which I feel a lot. I thought the book was over all a really good book and was a good quicker read but was a engrossing book.

Introduction to Bre

Introduction to Bre

Hi Bre, my name is Lauryn, I am very excited to be your partner! For free time I ride horses,  I am learning to play the guitar, and I also really like fashion. I chose the books Counting by 7’s to read first but my two other books are Divergent and Butter.  I like a wide range of books but some of my favorites are The Fault in Our Stars  and  Mango Shaped Space.  I  hope to become a better reader and when i read in my head I don’t skim over the words. I hope we have fun doing this project together.
