Finished Book- Lauryn Reid

I finished Plain Truth about 5 minutes ago and my mind is racing with thoughts and emotions. In the last chapter a lot happens and it is definitely surprising as a reader. I have noticed that in this project that it is hard to write about the book without giving the plot away so bear with me.

The book is in the perspective of an attorney Ellie Hathaway. She takes on the case of a eighteen year old amish girl, Katie Fisher. Katie is being charged of murdering her baby after hiding the fact that she had been pregnant. Ellie has to live with Katie for the many months leading up to the trial day. Ellie forms a bond with Katie that becomes not as helpful as Ellie imagined because Katie slowly starts remembering information and is questioning herself.

I really enjoyed this book because it talks about the difference that Ellie notices between the Amish community and life as a “normal american”.  I also thought the author did an amazing job of balancing the crime/court sections of the book with the emotions and relationships that take place.  One of the problems/ something I would have changed,  was if the book had a list of the characters names and relationship to Katie because there were a lot of supporting characters that weaved in and out of the story and it became hard to remember who was who.

Over all I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very engrossing and made me never want to put it down. It is a little bit on the longer side but it never slowed down or lost my interest. I would definitely recommend this it anyone and everyone.  – Lauryn Reid

New book – lauryn reid

New book – lauryn reid

Hey Bri, How have you been enjoying the books?  I have been reading a lot faster than normal and I am now on my fifth book. My friend recommended the book to me so I am reading it but I am about 100 from the end of the book so after I finish I think I am going to read speak…

I am reading the book called Plain Truth . It is about an Amish girl who is 18 and she gives birth to this baby. In the morning this man finds the baby dead under horse blankets in a barn. A attorney comes help her with her case and ends up having to live with her for many months until the trial day.

The books seemed boring and weird but I have really enjoyed it. The way the book is written is what I think I really like. The author does a good job of balancing the crime part of the story and the emotions of Katie, and relationship that Katie and Ellie ( the attorney) create.

The author does a good job of keeping me on my toes and keeping me reading. If you are into crime and realistic fiction I would definitely recommended this book to you. – Lauryn Reid

Artifact for Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie – Lauryn R.

Artifact for Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie – Lauryn R.

Sorry for the confusion with the artifact. Avery santa anna and I did the artifact together on the book Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. We tried to create the dangerous pie but in an edible form. We used the ingredients that Jeffry uses in his pie.  We both had a lot of fun making the cake. In the end it didn’t taste very good but we both had a fun time baking together, even if we created a huge mess.

Jeffrey’s ingredients/ what we had to work with: coffee grounds, toy cars, bacon, egg shells, eggs and coca cola.

How we created them to be edible: For the coffee grounds we added them to the cake and frosting. For the cars we used them as decorations on the top. The bacon was on the top and shaped into a cancer ribbon. The eggs were in the cake and for the shells we made sugar glass and put the shards on top. For the coca cola we used coca cola gummys in top.

I hope you like the video! – Lauyn Reid

Lauryn R. – Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie

Lauryn R. – Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie

I finished Drums, girls, and dangerous pie in a weekend. I was surprised by the topic since I knew nothing about the book but I enjoyed it so much! I really like how the title doesn’t give you a lot of  information about the book. I think that drums, girls and dangerous pies are not huge parts of the story but make the book better than if those topics weren’t in the book.

I think that Samantha is a very important character because she is going through the same thing that Jeffery is going through and helps Steven be a supportive brother. I also think another one of the most important characters are Renee and Annette. I think they are important because they are the ones who come up with the concert to raise money for Steven’s family and Steven thinks that he is in love with Renee but ends up in love with Annette. ” … Renee was beautiful, but she was my friend now. On the other hand, Annette was my friend, but she was beautiful now.”

I really enjoyed this book and am excited to find another book to read!
