Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie Artifact

Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie Artifact

Hi Jeanie! I’m sorry I couldn’t make it to the artifact making at Chico State this week, so I made an artifact at home. I made a playlist based on the book Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. I chose a playlist because music is a huge part of the book, and all the songs are mentioned in the book.

Rosalie M, Unwind and The Fault in Our Stars

Rosalie M, Unwind and The Fault in Our Stars

Hi Jeanie! So this week I’ve read Unwind  and I’ve started The Fault in Our Stars.  Unwind was an interesting book, It’s a type of dystopian I’ve never read before. It was wayyyy more chilling than almost any  other book I’ve read. I haven’t gotten much time to read lately because of sports practices and family, but I managed to finish Unwind. I liked Lev’s character, the unusual hero whose point of view has COMPLETELY changed since the beginning of his journey. Connor and Risa’s fates were a bit more predictable. The “clapper” terrorist concept is extremely creative on the side of the author! I’ve already seen TFIOS as a movie, but it’s interesting to read and see how they adapted the book to the movie!

Rosalie M, Fahrenheit 451 and The Lying Game

Rosalie M, Fahrenheit 451 and The Lying Game

Hi Jeanie, so this week I read Fahrenheit 451  and The Lying Game. This is probably the fifth or sixth time I’ve read it, because I’ve read it once or twice every year since fifth grade. Ray Bradbury is an amazing author, his metaphors, views, and the way he words his point is beautiful. When Montag describes the machine that saves his wife after her overdose as a snake, it drew great connections. Fahrenheit 451  is one of my favorite books.

The Lying Game was a little cliche. The long- lost twin thing was something I couldn’t really get into if it wasn’t for the mystery and lies. I feel like it was good enough for me to read the second book, but only because I want to find what happens with discovering the murder case. I’d love to hear how you’re finding the book you’re reading!

Rosalie M, Butter and Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie

Rosalie M, Butter and Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie

Hey Jeanie, this week I’ve finished both Butter and Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. I like how Butter has a happy ending, because the rest of the book is so dark. I also love how Butter finds his dad listening to his music. It means something to him. When I finished Butter, the Jazz music continued in Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie. I like the narrator/main character, Steven. He’s extremely relatable for someone going through a crisis. I know that when my grandpa had sepsis, I thought a ton of he same thoughts he did. Jeffrey’s character is the typical little brother, and he’s so cute I cant help but feel bad for him. But I don’t know, maybe it’s because I have a little brother. Steven is a great brother to Jeff, like when he leaves school for him, chose Jeffery over his concert, and played with him every night. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about what you’re reading,,
