I love my series book, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid! I think it’s funny and interesting and just an exciting read. It’s so cool to get inside the mind of a junior high boy and see what they’re all about. This book has me literally laughing out loud when I’m alone on the front porch….and my neighbors might be thinking I’m a little weird because of it.

A few years ago I watched the movie when it came out because it just looked like a fun story! When I watched it I loved it, and it was exactly what I wanted it to be! Now going back and finally reading the book is giving me the full story and showing me what I’ve been missing out on.

I am already looking forward to recommending the book to my future students, boys and girls. I think a lot of teachers and adults recommend this book for the young boys in their life, but I think girls can enjoy it just as much….I mean look at me!

This is an easy book to develop curriculum around and incorporate into your lessons. I know when I was younger, we were taught to journal and that it’s a good skill to have. Reading this book to/with your class may show them that journaling and blogging can be fun, and many people do it! It’s a good way to introduce writing into your classroom at a young age. Even going off of Roderick’s band, you could us this book to introduce rock music to your students and educate them on the history of rock and roll!
