Taylor Hovey – Cinderella Blog Post

Taylor Hovey – Cinderella Blog Post

Hey there! My name is Taylor Hovey and I’m from Paradise, CA. I grew up in this area and loved it, so I saw no reason to go far away from home for college. I am a freshman majoring in Liberal Studies and loving the ITEC program! I can’t wait to be a teacher, even though I know I have a long road ahead of me. Eventually I hope to teach middle school English and later become an administrator. I am currently living with my family in Paradise and commuting every day. I have a little sister who’s almost 10, 6 more days until double digits! We have two dogs, a Pomeranian named Rudy (after the football movie) and a Yorkie named Riley, and two cats named Noodle and Merlin. I can’t imagine my life without animals in it. I love reading, writing, watching movies and exploring new places. If I could spend an entire day doing anything I wanted, I would be exploring all the nooks and crannies of San Francisco. This weekend I was in the city and discovered Green Apple Books. Let’s just say I’m completely in love now.

Now onto the riddle!

There’s no grand estate or castle in this story,

No shining rings to fit to size.

There’s no living father to steal her glory,

Nor a stepmother that can escape her own demise.

  1. Hello Taylor! My name is Alicia, and it’s very nice to meet you. I grew up in Carson City, NV and happened upon Chico by chance. I’d like to teach high school AP English (if possible), so it sounds like we’re in a similar boat (though I don’t think I have the personality to be in administration. I might be a tyrant.) I also grew up with many animals, both dogs and cats, and currently have a cat named Clementine. She is my one true love.

As for San Francisco, I share your love for it. I have many friends who live in the Bay Area, and I love to go and spend time with them. As a lover of the Beat Generation, I love North Beach most (many of them lived in that area, including Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.) If you haven’t been to City Lights Bookstore, you should go. It’s wonderful. But I have an appreciation for any bookstore, to be honest.

Is the answer to your riddle The Tale of the Shoe? I did that one too! (Spoiler alert.)
