I believe Williams is seeing what exactly is being described in this poem; a red wheel barrow glazed with rain water beside the white chickens. Williams’ feels dependent on this image. He is acknowledging its importance to the world he lives in. He is probably accustomed to farming life or something to do with agriculture. The rain water is an important image because it shows the farm is getting water, which is necessary for cultivation.
