Dane G, Butter

Dane G, Butter

Dear Charlotte,

I am roughly 3/4 of the way through Butter and am having  hard time wanting to finish it. I knew going into this that this boom would be way of of my comfort range, but I didn’t expect it to be so hard to finish.

One thing that’s making this book so hard to finish is the attitude of Butter. For me to want to finish I would need some sort of hope or drive in butter. Butter however has already given up. That in itself is enough for me to put it down.

One thing I did like about Butter is the side characters. There is so many with so different personalities. Anna is really the only thing that would keep Butter from killing himself and he already gave up on her. Sure, Butter’s new “friends” are trying to work something out between him and her, but I think he knows that it’s never going to happen.

The thing that made me really unexcited to finish was just the topic in general. A 430 pound teen who plans to eat themselves to death? Probably should have said no before I even started. I know I wanted to try new genres but this just takes it a step too far. Can’t wait to be done with this book.

When I do finish this book I want to pick something that’s a bit closer t what I like to read. I was thinking Fahrenheit 451 or The Scorch Trails. If you’ve read one or both maybe you could tell me what you thought  was better or if they were any good. I have really have enjoyed doing this project and hope you did too.
