Ready Player One

This activity I chose to use as my project consists of doing everything your parent and morals tell you not to do, judge a book by its cover. In this case you will be making an appealing cover to someone of a different preference. In chapter five of our book, “Reading in the Wild,” Miller talks about an activity, making an alternate cover to a book, in order to help other people be more attracted to it. The purpose of this activity is to attract other readers who have different preferences to be attracted to read your book. Every reader comes up with different reasons they like the same book, therefore different people are going to be attracted to different covers. For example, I chose Ready Player One. In this book the people are able to enter a video game world OASIS and look anyway they want. I chose to make the cover of people and their avatars. Most people in these pictures do not look similar to their avatars. I think that was interesting and could relate to many other experiences people may be able to relate to. Such as people who do not like their appearance. Also, people who want to escape from reality. People find many ways to escape from reality. They do drugs, play sports, you name it! In this dystopian society people can go into OASIS and Cary out their fantasies.
