Maeve Lawson Artifact

Maeve Lawson Artifact

Hi Trevor,

I am almost finished with my artifact. I am making a playlist that Steven Alper would listen to.

For the music, I actually found Manteca and Cubana bop by Dizzy Gillespie. My play list is composed of these songs:

Take Five by Dave Brubeck

Katea’s Dance by Gene Ammons

Jungle Strut by Gene Ammons

Barney Miller by TV Tunsters

Manteca by Dizzy Gillspie

Cubana bop by Dizzy Gillspie

I chose to make a playlist  because Steven  uses music to help him through his brother’s illness. He uses music to lift up his brother and lift up himself. He also uses music to raise money for his brother’s illness. Steven uses something important to him and uses it to help others.

  1. Hey Maeve!
Love the playlist you put together. I am actually listening to it right now as I type this post. The music is actually quite soothing, easy to work to without getting distracted. I can see how Butter is able to escape reality and tune out everything else when he plays his music.
I just posted my artifact as well, it is based off RJ Palacio’s Wonder and the main character August Pullman. As you know “Auggie” suffers from a combination of rare physical conditions resulting in him having an abnormal face. So for my artifact I wanted to portrait my classmates and myself as to how I think they would look if they had Auggie’s condition themselves. Using iPhoto I thought would be a great way to show this due to the many effects that can be applied to the pictures. For the effect I chose the one that I thought fit his description of a “scrunched up face.” With this effect I took pictures of 5 classmates and our teacher Mrs. Jaxson herself. I then made masks out of all the altered pictures so they could be worn and my peers could look in the mirror and see themselves in the same perspective as Auggie. Each mask was tacked onto my display board next to each person’s non-altered picture to compare the two. Hope you enjoy!
