Kissing the Witch

Kissing the Witch

My favorite story was “The Tale of the Rose” because it was a completely different twist on The Beauty and The Beast.  I had only ever heard on the Disney version of this story and of course in that tale the beast was a prince not a princess.  This showed a new take that women don’t need to always search for love in a situation and sometimes all you need is a good friend.  It was also interesting because I saw that the people of the village judged her as a besat that had eaten the princess.  This is true about the world we live in today as well because it seems as if so many people judge without getting to know who he person truly is.  I feel that the Tale of the Kiss best captures women today because although in the beginning she changed herself for what she thought was love, in the end she realizes he true self is more important and even end up with a better guy that she marries. It is more important to be true to yourself then it is to fake who you are just to get a guy.

I think that the reason the author titled this book “Kissing the Witch” is because it is showing us throughout the book that all of the evil characters in these stories aren’t actually the evil ones.  I feel by using this title the author is portraying that the “witch” that we know in these stories are actually worth more and may not be as bad as we had once believed, as if she believes that they deserve a kiss instead of the negative thoughts they receive.
