Hi my name is Jeanie De La Cruz, I am a liberal studies major. my educational goal is to reach my dual teaching credential in k-8 multiple subjects and k-12 special education Mild to moderate and shortly after that I hope to get into the masters program right away if possible.
The reason I chose to go into the educational field is because I want to pay it forward like it was done to me. I was one of those children that were passed along the system and ended up being put in a resource class because i was way to far behind scheduled to be placed in the regular classes all day. Granted education must start at home with the parents helping there kid. I grew up in a home where my mother only spoke Brasilia Portuguese and Spanish fluently and some broken English. My step father at the time spoke little English and mainly Spanish , So growing up in my home was a mix of languages being spoken.from that brief introduction in regards to my language barriers I had and still have problems when comes to reading comprehension and writing. I still love to just sit with a good book and waist the day away and read, and I enjoy to write in journals as well.
I struggled and still find myself struggling with school but I am overcoming it so I can be that sorcerer teacher to help students that went threw similar educational opstickle’s that i had and help them work threw it so they can grow into being a strong well rounded individual and help prepare them for the real world.
But about me my name is Jeanie im a transfer junior here at chico state working towered my bachelors this year. I come from a family of 6 kids. 4 girls and 2 boys. very crazy life we lived but we adored one another. when i was 13 we were placed in the system individual and that was the scariest this in my life that could have ever happened to me. From that moment on I knew I was on my own and all i was to the system was another case number. So knowingly igot into school again and i worked my ass off. Lunch time i was always getting extra help. I didnt have time for sports because getting cough up with my education and being able to graduate meant more to me then doing all that fun stuff. So here I am today the first person ever from my family to ever graduate high school and go off to a junior college. I tool a lot of classes and was finally able to transfer to Chico state where I am working very delightedly towered my bachelors. I just keep looking at is as one step at a time and some day soon it will have paid off. Also this gives me the opportunity to raise the bar on family and any kids i might have in the future.
How about you Kim? where did you grow up and how was your educational upbringing?
