Why Johnny can never, ever read

Why Johnny can never, ever read

I found this reading very insightful. It basically talked about what is right and what is wrong and why they are look at that way. They talked a lot about conventional rather than correct to describe language use. It stated that grammar is not a rigid set of rules but a set of conventions that connect identities and status to language use. What should be tough is that language use is a matter of convention and how language, culture, and identity work together. next. Depending on who you are talking to or writing a paper for you must be familiarized   with the different types and setting so you can know when it is or inst appropriate to communicate in that context. And teach them to understand how language, culture, and identity work together. That way students can read and write in several different contexts.

I believe this was a great little article. Its more focused on understanding the cultural context behind reading and writing to communicate. I believe this would be something great to teach in the class rooms so the students can tell how to react in certain situations in there reading and writing and communication to one another,

a little something something about me AKA Jeanie De La Cruz

a little something something about me AKA Jeanie De La Cruz

Hi my name is Jeanie De La Cruz, I am a liberal studies major. my educational goal is to reach my dual teaching  credential in k-8 multiple subjects and k-12 special education Mild to moderate and shortly after that I hope to get into the masters program right away if possible.

The reason I chose to go into the educational field is because I want to pay it forward like it was done to me. I was one of  those children that were passed along the system and ended up being put in a resource class because i was way to far behind scheduled to be placed in the regular classes all day. Granted education must start at home with the parents helping there kid. I grew up in a home where my mother only spoke Brasilia Portuguese and Spanish fluently and some broken English. My step father at the time spoke little English and mainly Spanish , So growing up in my home was a mix of languages being spoken.from that brief introduction in regards to my language barriers I had and still have problems when comes to reading comprehension and writing. I still love to just sit with a good book and waist the day away and read, and I enjoy to write in journals as well.

I struggled and still find myself struggling with school but I am overcoming it so I can be that sorcerer teacher to help students that went threw similar educational opstickle’s that i had and help them work threw it so they can grow into being a strong well rounded individual and help prepare them for the real world.

But about me my name is Jeanie im a transfer junior here at chico state working towered my bachelors this year. I come from a family of 6 kids. 4 girls and 2 boys. very crazy life we lived but we adored one another. when i was 13 we were placed in the system individual and that was the scariest this in my life that could have ever happened to me. From that moment on I knew I was on my own and all i was to the system was another case number. So knowingly igot into school again and i worked my ass off. Lunch time i was always getting extra help. I didnt have time for sports because getting cough up with my education and being able to graduate meant more to me then doing all that fun stuff. So here I am today the first person ever from my family to ever graduate high school and go off to a junior college. I tool a lot of classes and was finally able to transfer to Chico state where I am working very delightedly towered my bachelors. I just keep looking at is as one step at a time and some day soon it will have paid off. Also this gives me the opportunity to raise the bar on family and any kids i might have in the future.

How about you Kim? where did you grow up and how was your educational upbringing?
