1. My name is Rachael and I am currently a junior in the liberal studies program. My goal in life is to be an elementary teacher. However I would ultimately like to get my masters in Administration in Education so I could be a principle if I choose to. I am originally from Belmont California, which is a small town in the Bay Area. I have a little sister who is a senior in high school and she is going through the college application process. She is my best friend and I am her biggest supporter. I grew up playing Softball, 12 years in total, so I love that sport as well as Baseball. I am a HUGE fan of the San Francisco Giants, and the months of April until November I am constantly watching baseball. I currently work as an Afterschool leader at Parkview Elementary here in Chico and I love working with those kids. It has given me confidence in that fact that I have chosen the right career path. Well that’s pretty much all there is to know about me! But here’s a fun fact… I am a New Zealand Citizen (my dad grew up there)!
2. I think a reader is someone who thoroughly enjoys what they are reading and also gains knowledge, even if it’s a book read for pleaser. However I also think that someone who is just reading an article on the Internet is a reader in their own way. I do think there is a difference between a reader and being literate, but in our world there are all types of readers. Outside of school I tend to only read for pleasure when I find the time, more than likely long breaks like summer. I try not to connect my outside reading to reading for school because then the task isn’t as enjoyable, but sometimes there’s no way around it.
