Definitely Didn’t Make a Vlog!

Definitely Didn’t Make a Vlog!

I made a vlog/rant for anyone who wants to see me talk about the things we recently went over for class while I drink a few beers. I did little editing for I thought it was funnier without it… I kind of explain my ideology on editing vlogs in the video so I won’t expand here. So yeah, watch it or don’t. It is your call. Here is the link !

  1. Zach,

Hahaha I saw your vlog! I found it to be not only hilarious but you also make some really great points about multimodality. I like how you discussed Shipka and the fact that doing a multimodal project rather than a traditional essay creates better opportunities for response, encourages more creative expression, and further establishes a sense of community. The last idea of composing multimodal projects establishing more of a community in a given class than composing an essay would was interesting because it is something I had not really thought about. When writing a paper there are different, smaller communities created through peer review groups but most of the class does not see each individual students’ essay. In comparison, it is really important that multimodal projects created for most courses are meant to be presented or somehow shared with the entire class; when students are first brainstorming (and hopefully doing some kind of very informal writing) about what they will compose they even immediately begin to think about this and the impact it will have on their project. Hmmm, creating a sense of community as part of a better learning experience is definitely another “pro” for me thinking about doing an Inquiry Project rather than doing an Inquiry Paper in 130.

Lastly, it was funny what you said about Baron’s “Pixels to Pencils” ending with an image that represents students as monkeys, however, what if the teacher is also represented as a monkey? : )

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. If the teacher was a money then I would be convinced that there is no meaning to learning and spend the rest of my life being an organic farmer in Japan. But hey, that’s just me.

  2. Zach,

As a legit friend, you know I took screen shots.

… (Jklol, but I might now.) What was that at the end though? Anime nosebleed?
