Make Cycles

Our course is organized by two week “make cycles,” a term I borrow from Connected Learning. We will read, discuss, and make things based on the children’s books we’re reading. You can find the “weekly work” for each cycle in the drop down menu above.

Google+ Community

We will share most of our work in a Google+ Community. We can upload images, respond to each other’s ideas, and share links and artifacts here.

Make Cycles (Weekly Work)

Image of DollI’ve organized this class around a series of “make cycles.” After the welcome week, we will work with children’s books in two week cycles, starting with fairy tales in weeks 2 and 3.

I will add the new make cycle at the end of a cycle, so you can expect to see Make Cycle 2 posted on Friday, Sept 7 and then a new cycle shared every other week after that. They will appear in the drop down menu at the top of our course site under Weekly Work.

Again, you can find the links in the drop down menu above, but here are the links below too:

Week 1 (Introductions)

Make Cycle 1: Weeks 2 & 3 (Fairytales)

Make Cycle 2: Weeks 4 & 5 (Series Books)

Make Cycle 3: Weeks 6 & 7 (Chapter Books)

Make Cycle 4: Weeks 8 & 9 (Free Verse Novels)

Make Cycle 5: Weeks 10 & 11 (Graphic Novels)

Make Cycle 6: Weeks 12 & 13 (YA Novels)

Make Cycle 7: Weeks 14-16 (Remix & Reflect)

As I add new weeks to the drop down menu, I will archive the previous weeks’ cycles on this main page.

VERY IMPORTANT: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE order all your books asap. I know it’s tempting to order as you go, but often students order them used and then it takes a month to get them. Please have them ordered, so they can be ready to go for the semester, by the end of the first week of our class.
