I’m reading, the Land of Stories series written by Chris Colfer. This series is about twins, a boy and girl, who are going through a rough time so their grandma gives them a book of fairytale stories, which was a huge part of their life before everything changed, bring them closer together. I don’t want to say much more without giving the story away but if you enjoy reading books that find new ways to use old fairytales in a fresh way this is these are the right books. So far I’ve enjoyed the series a lot, even though it is not “reading level” to a college student it’s still a fun read. This could be a good read out loud book for a classroom, and just like this class there could be comparisons made on the fairytales told to other versions. At the begging of the first book their teacher asks her students to write a short paper and it is simple enough to be done in a real classroom. The students are asked to pick a fairy tale and write about the lesson it is trying to teach.
