Austin M. I Am The Messenger

Austin M. I Am The Messenger

Hi Alyssa, After I finished the Maze Runner I was having a tough time trying to figure out what I wanted to read. There is so many good books out there right now such as The Fault In Our Stars, Lone Survivor, and Ready player one that it nearly impossible for me to choose. But after a lot of thinking and getting recommendations from my peers I chose to go with I Am The Messenger.

This book is written by Markus Zusak, and I have never read one of his books so I had no clue what to expect when I opened the first page. Right off the bat I knew I had made the right choice. The book starts off with a big bang (meaning a bank robbery) and the main character Ed Kenny and all of his friends are right in the middle of it. Following the bank robbery is a countless number of questions, mystery’s, and challenging choices that Ed is forced to face. The author creates what would seem like a serious story, but he adds so much humor that it is one of the funniest books that I have ever read, which makes it extremely difficult to put down.

My favorite character so far is Ed Kenny because even within the first 10 pages of the book you feel like you already know his life story. He expresses all of the things he feels and has gone through making your connections with him and the book that much stronger. When you can connect with the book it doesn’t even feel like you are reading a book, it feels like you are in the book. The author did a great job of emphasizing that in this piece.

This is definitely one of the best books I have ever read, and will be for a long time. I am really impressed with Markus Zusak’s writing so far, and I am looking forward to reading more of his books in the future.

This is a great read Alyssa, and I hope you get the chance to enjoy it.
