Erik Sagrero – Fairytale ABC’s and a Puzzle

Erik Sagrero – Fairytale ABC’s and a Puzzle

For this weeks make, my group and I decided to create an activity that would teach children the ABC’s by using both fairytales and characters that can be found in some the tales. Along with the presentation we also thought that it would be a fun activity for the kids if they were able to do something hands on so we created a puzzle for them to play with after they learn their ABC’s. For the puzzle we featured Cinderella because that was a character we focused on in class.

I personally like both activities because they would be something that would keep students engaged while still learning. The puzzle isn’t really meant to educate the students but it’ll work as a motivation for young students to learn their ABC’s so that they’ll be able to enjoy a game afterwards. This could be used in as an introduction for students who are learning their ABC’s or to give them an idea of what kind of fairytales they’d be able to find in books, movies, or the web.

  1. I think this is a really cool idea and that you guys did a great job! This is something that can easily be done in a elementary classroom that is fun and still informative!

  2. The ABC book is really cute! There were a handful that I didn’t know so I would probably have to learn them all to answer any questions (that I’m sure) kids will have. I also loved the puzzle, I’ve always been interested in them. The best thing about them is that you can make them bigger and easier for younger kids or smaller and harder for older kids.

  3. I really love how creative this Make was. It was fascinating to see all the different fairytales you were able to incorporate into one ABC book. I think this is a fun and unique idea to use with children to help them expand their knowledge on fairytales, and to perhaps help younger children learn their ABC’s. The pictures you chose to add were beautiful and helped embellish the letter for each fairytale concept or character. The puzzle was a very nice touch, as well! It is a great way to get kids to be interactive with a new idea.

  4. Hello group members. I enjoyed reading through your ABC fairytale book and learning about different fairytales that I had never heard about before! I was astonished that there was one for every letter. I really liked the idea of this and think students would enjoy this activity because it is relatable to them and unique! I also thought it was a great idea to have a hands-on activity to go along with your ABC lesson because we are all aware that we all do not learn the same. The kinesthetic students will appreciate being able to do something with their hands that follows the theme. Overall I thought this was an insightful lesson that I will steal for my future students!

  5. This is very a very creative and beautiful idea. I like the factor of teaching children the ABCs using fairy tales especially with all of the bright colors that were used. I also liked that you used fairy tales from different animators. I also like the variety, some of the fairy tales used were older ones and others were newer.
