Speak, to speak, am speaking, have spoken… SPOKE

Speak, to speak, am speaking, have spoken… SPOKE

I absolutely loved this book! It started just a little slow, but I ended up loving it so much! I am super excited to see the movie although a tad worried it may ruin it for me; many movies do that to books. I try to envision this character through the description in this book and it is difficult. I have somewhat of an idea as to how I see her, but I think it would be neat to see who they cast as her and what she looks like. I also like the fact that she calls Andy IT for so long throughout the book as if he were not even a person; a vile thing that she could not stand. It surprises me that none of the teachers saw that she was having a problem. It seemed so obvious, she had no friends, she barely talked, and she was not always in class. I would assume more teachers to reach out to her, but it seemed that only her art teacher cared, and it was not even shown until half way through the school year. I feel that many girls, and boys, could connect with this book and after having read it maybe feel more empowered to speak up if anything, anything at all, happens to them. It may be a book that should not be introduced to freshman, but possibly sophomores and definitely upperclassmen. It points out how important it is to tell someone if something happens that you are uncomfortable with and that needs to be clear to young adults. It also needs to be clear to them that it is not a joking matter and should be taken completely seriously! All in all I really loved this book and would 100% recommend it to a friend!

I can be a poet.

I can be a poet.

I read Inside Out and Back Again and I was not a huge fan of it… It was kind of slow and I could not connect with the characters well. I liked that the little girl had specific things that really brought her back to home even when she could not be there. She always had hope that her father would show up somewhere and that shows bravery.

My cento work:

People share when they know they have escaped hunger.

Shouldn’t people share because there is hunger.

An old, angry knot expanded in my throat.

I chew each grain S-L-O-W-L-Y.

Not the same, but not bad at all.

Mother hugs me, hearts drumming as one.

I hate everyone.

My series… it’s a quick read… I like it that way :P

My series… it’s a quick read… I like it that way :P

I am reading the junie b jones series like I did when I was little. I adore these books because they are so cute. They are all really good teaching tools for teasing and how to deal with it. They catch the attention of children because they can reminisce back to their kinder-first grade years and reflect on them. These books are an easy read which is great for young readers developing their reading skills and they are cute and funny which always keeps the attention of a young child. I see this girl and it just makes me smile and think back to when I was eight years old and weekly got a different junie b jones book from my school library…

Oh memories…..

I love you junie b jones!

I feel that this is a good series to start kids on because book to book it is quite simple and does not seem like a huge task to read through ONE of her books; after reading the series though, a kid can look back and think “Wow, look at ALL the books I read!” That is a great accomplishment for a kid and if you find a scenario to make a kid feel good about themselves you jump on it.

I’m off to read more junie… bye!

Back When I WAS a Wild Reader…

Back When I WAS a Wild Reader…

I like that the author mentions having a book with you at all times because when you aren’t super attached to a book and wanting to read it every chance you get, you do not realize how many of those chances you actually have… Everyone always says how they are too busy to read or too busy to do anything really. Well, we all know that is not true; if we were too busy to read or do anything else that seems maybe a tad boring or just not top on our list then we would not have time to text or check snap chat or check instagram or browse facebook or pinterest or any other time-wasting completely random electronic site, app or widget.

The fact that people are always too busy to read is ridiculous to me.

I used to be one of those “I don’t have time to read” people…. that is until I found this book and fell in love with reading. I became a wild reader when I read the first chapter (well two actually; it is a perspective book written where each chapter bounces back and forth between the two main characters and their perspectives throughout the story) of it.

If it weren’t for me stumbling upon this book, I probably would not have had any interest in finding books that I enjoyed reading.

All this being said, I like the point that the book makes that there are individuals (you know who you are) that make reading a daily thing. I used to do this and wish/plan/may try to make this another habit in my life. I remember loving reading and can’t wait to find those books that just make me want to stop life all together and fall into the land I am reading of and see it with my own two eyes….
